Soul Recovery
Soul recovery is a powerful practice that heals soul loss. Soul loss can occur whenever we have trauma in our life. For example, we may experience soul loss if we are in an accident, undergo a serious operation, or if we suddenly lose a close friend or family member or experience the horror of war.
It is death to the soul to become unconscious. People die before there is death of the body, because there is death in the soul. - C.G. Jung
Soul loss is the experience of an essential part of us leaving, and soul retrieval is the experience of having that essential part retrieved and returned to you. Many of us feel we are missing a necessary part of ourselves or are not quite whole. Sometimes, we experience soul loss as a chronic illness or face ongoing emotions such as sadness and anger.
Soul loss can occur at any age, and soul retrieval can be done whenever a person is ready for a transformation. Sometimes, we remember specific events in life that changed us – for the worse – physically, emotionally, and mentally. Then, we realize we’re ready to heal, be inspired, and move on!
The results of a soul recovery are unique for everyone. Some people will experience joy, curiosity, or expansiveness; others will feel quiet, still, and sleepy after a soul retrieval.
In her book Soul Retrieval, Sandra Ingerman describes soul loss as a “spiritual illness that causes emotional and physical disease…(and) losing crucial parts of ourselves that provide us with life and vitality.”
Soul Recovery is about meeting and making peace with all we have rejected or taken within ourselves. It is about acknowledging and exploring the damaged parts of our psyche. It is about picking up the scattered pieces of our estranged selves and dressing our wounds with the medicine of compassion.
The purpose of Soul Recovery is to help us spiritually mature as beings having a human experience. As we make our way through the winding and often perilous paths of our lives, we reclaim the soul gifts of empathy, sensitivity, self-responsibility, strength, truth, and inner harmony.
